Growing up on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC, I have always had a huge love of the ocean for not only the spiritual comfort but the amazing collage of colors & sea creatures it offers. My husband and I travel to the Hawaiian Islands every year where we experience the magic of snorkeling with tropical fish, swimming with dolphins, watching whales play and witnessing the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen.  All of this influences my jewelry designs and colors that I use to celebrate nature at its’ best.

About 5 years ago, I started taking jewelry making lessons and fell completely in love with the endless creativity of the shapes and colors of gemstones, rocks, pearls & metals. This opened me up to a creative outlet I never knew I possessed as I have always been more of a business woman coming from the Insurance & Financial field.  I became so immersed with jewelry design that I spent most of my free time soaking up knowledge of this wonderful modality. Making Jewelry gives me back a sense of joy & peace that is so wonderful that I just keep making more and more so my treasure chest is overflowing!

“Aleita’s Jewelry is unique, custom and elegant. I bought a pair of earrings that I truly love and have seen a lot of her collection and it’s hard to choose between all of the
beautiful pieces.”

As the busy Senior Financial Advisor of Laird Financial Services Group Inc. in Victoria, BC  www.lairdfinancial.ca, I really needed something creative & fun to do.  I took my first “How to Make a Gemstone Necklace & Earring Set” five years ago and I was hooked!  I felt like a kid in a candy store or that I opened a door to the wonders of a whole new way of being with a rainbow of colors & shapes to choose from.  At first, I shopped at my local gemstone stores in Victoria, BC and purchased books online about jewelry design and gemstones then as I became more knowledgeable, started investigating reputable online sources for purchasing my materials.  There is so much to learn from the tiniest piece of a finding like a 3mm crimp cover to a large pendant of Canadian Laboradite that I feel like I am learning a new language!

As I continue to take more jewelry making courses, I realize that I have barely scratched the surface of this wonderful modality.  There is so much to learn and courses I would like to take such as metal clay, lapidary, silver smithing to mention a few, so I am excited!

I don’t have a shop set up in my home, however, I have a wonderful reading library where I have set up my stash of jewelry supplies, storage containers, books & tools where my dog, Boomer & I sit comfortably on my leather couch, making jewelry & watching a good movie.
